Sermon title: Bread for Strangers
Sermon text: 1 Kings 17:1-16 & Luke 4:24-26
A fugitive prophet running for his life and a desperate widow running out of food make for odd company. And yet, in this story, they become lifelines for each other. In a time of scarcity and hopelessness, God provides through the unlikeliest sources, reminding us that we are all more connected than we can ever imagine. Strangers share bread, find strength to face the day, and reveal God’s heart for the world.
Questions for Reflection
- Why did God tell Elijah the Tishbite from Gilead to go to “Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon”?
- What do you think it felt like for Elijah to depend on a raven and a Phoenician widow?
